Rozalyn Crews and Evan Giomi were recently awarded the top prizes in the 2012 Student Archaeology Grant contest sponsored by the Time Sifters Archaeology Society of Florida for outstanding research in anthropology and archaeology, making this the fourth year in a row that New College students have won. Crews' paper covers Calusa Indians' experiences in their social and environmental landscapes as Giomi's delved into the church complexes of Lalibela, Ethiopia, to investigate issues of colonialism and Christianity.
